Speed trap warnings

As a new member I am not allowed to post this in the appropriate place, i.e. the law bit.
I was reading about the man who was convicted in Grimsby for flashing (his lights -mucky minds) at other motorists to warn them of a police speed trap.
It reminded me of the time when I was a young boy and my father was a member of the AA, proudly sporting his winged badge on the front grille of his Humber Sceptre. Whenever an AA patrolman passed, riding his motorbike and sidecar, he would always salute a member, but not if a police speed trap was on the road ahead.
I was only young but I don't think they were ever prosecuted for this. Did they ever officially change this policy?

Yes, preventing someone from committing crime is now considered to be wilfully obstructing an officer from the course of his duty.
