Bought to go with the Merc C320 CDI and we love it. Went out today to fuel it up (30.1 mpg average) and gave it the beans on the way home. Very different drive than a 3.0 V6 Turbo Diesel but that is just great as I get the best of both worlds. The Merc is foot down torquey quick but does not suffer from the 4 pot tdi narrow power band and does sound good. The ST just keeps on revving - lazy(ish) below 4000 rpm but then goes well on the charge to the redline. Drive it in a commited fashion and the eurobox diesels may have it up to 60 or so but you wil have left them well behind if you could find a road where speeds over 100 mph were allowed

Choice! The ST220 is on my list of cars I really should own after I graduate. 5 Door hatch in Performance Blue for me, hopefully they'll be cheaper by then...

Also, it is half a DB9 engine!

They were. My Father did a lot of research prior to buying theirs. They had to wait some time to get the right model year & spec.

Im unsure why, but my ST220 is turning into the most unreliable car i've owned.

2004 with 60k on the clock, and its just one problem after another.

For the same reason why people get cars other than focuses.

I'm on my second focus, and its is great. Don't try overtaking in it but when up to speed it drives brilliantly and does everything you need it to.
The Mondy I had was great too, but the problem with them is that they are too commonplace and therefore when you see one it is like looking at automotive wallpaper. Why the fiat 500 was a breath of fresh air. But then everyone got one and then they too are just another car. ARRRGGGHHH!

Very true - for my commuter cars I like to spend as little as possible but get the best car. So far it has included 523i, 328i, Cougar V6, ST24 - something that othere may ignore as they are not diesel (328i averaged 36 mpg since we had it) but actauuly are brilliant cars that do not breakdown, have some reasonable performance, are built to last and you can sell them 2 years later for the same price as you bought them for.

Slightly different for the ST220 - still not expensive but you get a huge amount of kit for little outlay.

We have these at work as unmarked response cars fitted with blue lights. Until I'd used them I had always ignored Mondeos. If I was forced to get a sensible-ish car, one of these would be on the shortlist.
