Hi (potential fellow) Tuscan owners.

I have made an offer on a Tuscan S which I expect to hear back on next week (regarding acceptance etc). I have been doing some prelim insurance work which has suprised me in terms of cost.

The cheapest I can get is over £1000. I am 36, no convictions, one minor prang in past 5 years (£400), 15 years no claims. I have based the car on social and domestic only, garaged and an annual mileage of approx 5k.

I would be very interested in any suggestions ref the insurance companies you currently use to insure your Tuscans? Over 1k seems a bit steep, particularly as Direct Line have kindly put the premium up on my old L200 by £250 (for no reason), meaning that I am also faced with a £700 + premium on my daily driver.

Thanking you in advance.

Try Jelf group for multi vehicle policy, specially if you got a wife. My works van and T350 covered for c.£800 6k on TVR and 12k on van plus I can drive other vehicles. See the insurance Wicki on the TVR general gossip page for details and other insurers

The main ones tend to be Mannings, MSM, Classicline & Henderson Taylor. The latter were cheapest for me.

Ask for Lee Sargeant at Mannings...
If you've owned high performance cars in the past, then specialist companies like Mannings, Henderson Taylor and some others mentioned will take that into account...

I think from what you've said, it should be well under a grand, but you might have to pay a bit more than typical for your first year, until you 'prove' yourself ;-)

Thanks fella. It's a toss up between the Tuscan S and the Noble, but the Tuscan is the front runner given the 'open top' element. It also has a boot, which scores with the G/F because luggage space in the Noble is a touch limited wink

Failing that, I'll source myself a nice Tamora.

Thanks to everyone for the insurance heads up - plenty of time to get things sorted, so I will give all of them a call.

Just spoke to Lee at Mannings. £498 fully comp on a Tuscan - excellent stuff!! It's also a mirrored policy, so I get to transfer my max no claims onto the L200 which should cut the premium considerably.

Will phone a few other places, but in essence, your advice has already saved me the best part of £700 (and that's before I sort out the truck).

A classic case of all that is good with PH.

I am 37, no convictions, two no-fault claims and 13 yrs protected no claims so pretty comparable. Same basis of cover as you as well, but with some commuting and based in London; £557 with Henderson Taylor, including 5 days track cover included, euro-cover and lower excesses than I was paying with Flux. All in all - a very positive deal. Policy also with Aviva (via CCI I think), which gives me a little comfort if a claim ever needs to be made.

Update.

Negotiated price agreed and deposit paid on an Tuscan 2 S. Should have the car delivered next week. I am now officially excited.

Manning's by some way the best, so will be dropping them a line next week to arrange cover. Will post some pics up of the car when it's 'in situ'
