Hi All

Our Bosch dishwasher has stopped washing properly. Usually we have to hand wash 25% of the stuff that comes out and glasses are left with gritty bits and pieces stuck to them.

We clean the filters, top up the salt, rinse aid etc. But it is not behaving itself.

Any tips before we call out the repairman?

Thanks in advance.

This is accessed from the outside presumably? Is yours a Bosche?

Blocked nozzles in the rotating bits? Rice is usually the culprit.

In that case, it is possessed by the ghosts of luncheons past. Approved exorcist is the only possible alternative to rice.

Are you using the correct (dishwasher approved) salt? Might somebody ever have used ordinary salt? If so, it might well be fked (info from Mrs SC).

Dear Manks,

can you tell whether it's going through the cycle completely and correctly?
Is it getting hot?

See idea,

What setting have you got it on?

I find that unless I put my dishwasher on the intensive wash setting (65 degrees C) it just doesn't do a proper job

If that's the case could the heater not be working properly so it's running cooler than it should?

Not sure, the wife does the dishwasher. But I suspect the highest temp.

Have you tried some diswaher cleaner? You put the bottle in upside down in an empty diswasher and put it on a 65 degree wash and it cleans it out. Works for me.

Finish make one, and Sainsburys have their own make (I assume Tesco et al do too).

We have a Bosch dishwasher and I have had to fix it a couple of times.

Remove the top - there's a couple of plastic clips at the back, push them in, slide the top back and lift off.

Remove side panel - couple of screws at he front and one one the side at the front.

You'll now see a big plastic manifold, looks like a lot of pipes in fancy formation! Remove it - pull away at the top and undo the pipe clips at the bottom, any without pipe clips are a push fit.
Have plenty of towels on the floor to soak up the water.

Remove the bit that stops it working if the tray is flooded - one electrical connector (small spade) and the red plastic 'rod' that goes to the tray.

Then disconnect the pipe that goes to the filter - open door and take out the filter in the bottom have a poke around and at the front of the 'sump' you'll find the other end of this pipe.

This pipe will be bunged up with grease etc. Clean it out, clean out the manifold as best you can (I use a drain unblocking fluid and boiling water) and put it all back together.

I then run a hot cycle with dishwasher cleaner, then one without the cleaner.
It should work perfectly - well mine does!

BTW mine is about 4/5 years old Bosch Exxcel.

If I've not explained anything please ask.

I've never used salt in my dishwasher (its a Zanussi). Should I be using salt? I remember someone telling me I didnt need to use salt as it was dependant on the water in the area.
