a sound clip will load in the background and then you will hear what she sounds like...
Best words to describe it...
"Hell on fire!", just wished there was a little more induction noise like on the GT...

Rover V8 cant be faulted can it... beautiful at idle, beautiful in motion...
Cerbera V8's dont all sound the same at startup though, some sound very smooth and only slight ticking until the oil warms up... others like a tractor... the first cerbie 4.2's were real beasts when it came to first start engine noise... someone got a sound file of that?
GCerbera, maybe a page of just engine sounds should be up on the TCR site... everyones got a different note... will be a nice feature... ????

Al
4.2 with original clatter cams - bag of spanners, with lumpy bits, and the odd bit of off-cut 4x2 added for that random off line pause between rattles as the bag is shaken
. Oh, and very occassionally a slight wobble until one of the cylinders decides to join the rest of the crew for a scream across the countryside.
All of the sound effects on here sound far too healthy to me. Once its warmed up, it settles down to only sound like two siamesed Ford Cortina engines planted in the engine bay, when at every set of traffic lights your'e trying to look
. If you are really worried, next time your at a meet, ask someone. But believe me, they never, ever, ever will sound as smooth as the Rover V8, but hell do they fly.
All joking aside, I have been told by an Indi I trust that if it ever comes back from a service very quiet, be worried, as it can mean the tappet gaps are too tight, and this is more of a worry than noisy. Happy driving

Especially when cold. Its better to sound slightly 'tappety'.Big phew!
Thanks one and all.
I had been assured that it was perfectly normal but it did make me wonder a little(a lot actually).
Ok so my neighbours can continue to scoff at my shiny diesel car.Tonight i`m gonna let her warm up on the drive as per normal but instead of driving off when warm, i`ll just sit there for a further 10/15 mins and let her pop and bang as pay back!
I`ve had the car since friday and managed to set off 6 car alarms with me pops. Makes me p--s me pants with laughter.
Relieved Al:-)

Are these definately from a V8 cerbera ?
cos mine or anyone I've heard at meets, sounds nothing like it, apart from the griffs & chims that is
Would agree with the diesel comment, for about two minutes
Not true about my recording, as you will hear the ratio of 50/50, from ignition pull to a few revs then switch off. I stood on the side of the car, litterally in the middle about 6 feet away, and using a Sony DV camcorder recorded the sound at 16bit 48khz in stereo.
The fact you have a sports exhaust system does make a difference to the overall engine sound too... god knows if its the fact you've got free'er flowing gas or what...

I think we're on about the sound, when your sat in the car,
I don't know about anyone else, but I can only hear the engine clattering, not the exhaust note, which i'd imagine is going away from the car
It would be nice to hear a recording from inside the car, cold morning, windows & doors shut,
I'll bet it's not all that impressive
