I've had my m3 8 months now and had noticed in medium to heavy braking a judder from the brakes. I've just had a service 2 undertaken and the problem went away for a week then returned. I ask the mechanic what he'd done and all he'd done was lube the calipers.

Upon changing my wheels for my summer wheels/tyres, I noticed brake buildup in the cross drillings of every disc, so I used a drill but to clean them out. The problem has now gone!

So before u spend a small fortune, make sure your discs are nice and clean!

By brake buildup i take it you mean brake dust? If i clean my disks all it takes is a good fast drive and the cross drillings will fill up again... No point then.

I had a similar problem that initially manifested itself as a juddering under braking (started on a track day) and then moved onto a permanent and alarming vibration at anything over 50mph. Turns out it was a warped brake disc.

I had what sounds like the same problem, namely vibration through the steering wheel at heavier braking from upwards of 50 mph. Had it checked out last week and both front discs were deemed to be marginally outside the accepted tolerances. Both were replaced under warranty and the problem has now gone away. The car is less than 12 months old.
