6 series convertible - blowing fuses?

Hi all,
a mate has a 2005 645ci
Had the car about 6 months, no poblems until now
Over the weekend, everytime he goes to lower or raise the softop, the fuse blows (40amp blade type)
Mechanism is ine as constant replacement of fuses allows raise and lower, but obviously something is wrong
Any ideas?
