Mods – I have spoken with Garlick about this, and he is fine & has suggested I put this here – Cheers!

MONDAY 25 APRIL - 1/4 MILE RACE & 1/2 MILE SPEED RUN UP THE RAF ODIHAM RUNWAY

Looking for a bit of fun this Easter Monday? And would like to support Help for Heroes too?

In association with Straightliners (the people who do the timing at Santa Pod) we will be running our first, of many, petrol fuelled days of fun at the RAF Odiham base in Hampshire! Cars and Bikes welcome!

The format of the day will run very much the same as a Run What Ya Brung day, where you can either choose to race against a friend/rival/ or whoever turns up on the line.

You will be given your reaction times, 0-60ft times, 1/4 mile time and top speed for bragging rights.

As well as this, we have just had confirmed that we can also do a single car/bike (ie not a race) run down the runway for 1/2 mile to see our top speed, purely for fun and top trumps.

Doors open at 730am, briefing is at 950am, with the lights going green at 10am right the way through until 5pm.

It's unlimited runs, so you can go as many times as possible throughout the day.

The cost of the day is as follows:
£40 + £10 - That's for the event itself and £10 for a days membership to the club.
or
£40 + £20 - That's for the event itself, and an annual subscription to the club – which will give you priority booking to the future events (trackdays, sprints etc).

Spectators are £5.

All profits from the day will be going to Help for Heroes, so a worthy cause.

If you would like to come (to either take part or spectate) then please email OdihamCarclub@hotmail.co.uk with your name, vehicle registration & make and phone number.

You can pay on the day (we have a card swiper thingy), and will need to bring a helmet - PLUS you MUST bring photo ID to get onto the RAF base - passport or photo driving licence.

There is also a thread in the Track Day forum here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Cheers, I hope to see you there!

Sounds good fun... lots of runway to slow down as well I hope? Near to where I live which is great - for a change!

Yep, we have 1.6 miles of usable runway so plenty to slow down on. Do you fancy a bash at it then?

Yep 17th July will be an Airfield driving day and 3rd Sept will be a sprint and autosolo. We are a new club and are a very steep learning curve, hence the lack of advertising LOL. We will keep the PH lot updated though smile

As the day is drawing ever closer I have to put a cut off point for entries. Sunday 17th April will be the last entry taken. When all entries are in and if there are any spare places Ill post up the details.

Thanks for all the interest in the event, it looks to be a good one!

I wish to come along and spectate, trouble is I dont have a photo driving license or a passport! The only ID I have with a photo is my pass for work, would that be ok along with my normal paper driving license?

Depends where you work. A staff permit for a large high street bank, for example, would carry more credibility than a Blockbuster membership card.

Thanks for the info above, I shall send an email asap smile

How many cars/bikes will be running?

Are there any spectator areas along the strip or only behind the start line?

We have a mix of nearly 100 vehicles. We have had to use just one area for spectators which will be the start area. The paddack will be running alont the strip and this will be barriered, spectators are welcome along the barriers.

you have mail! Planning to be there. Would hope for a 12 secs 1/4 and 170mph (only - as I have smaller semi track tyres on.)

Are there any noise restrictions? I'd be interested to find out how loud my F355 is, but if there is any restriction I'll be well over it...

No idea on the runs to be honest. Noise is 105db ish, not stricty enforced as we have never had a complaint, if someone complains it will be enforced.
