Hello all,
Can anyone recommend a camcorder to match with the mount that Demon Tweeks sell? I am looking at budget price really and its to mount externally on a sports libre car!

Many Thanks Dj

All camcorders have a standard type of mounting so any camera will fit on any mount or tripod
I have a Panasonic NV-DS60, was probably the cheapest mini DV cam around when i bought it
I got mine from www.cameras2u.com plenty of choice there.

Cheers for reply but not really what I was getting at, What I meant was due to vibrations etc are there better camcorders to use than others?? I dont want to spend £500 on one to find out it really dont like being strapped to a racecar!! Cheers anyway

Well in that case you get what you pay for. My camcorder has the steady shot feature but when mounted incar on our 205 rallycar it gets switched off. on a rough tarmac stage we got a little picture vibration on a fast section but apart from that it was fine. not bad for a budget camcorder at £330 low frequency vibration is not the problem its the high frequency that can play havoc with the cam.
Its a shame you cant go down your local Currys and borrow a few different ones, strap them to your car and tear around the carpark

The other solution is to use a bullet cam from RF Concepts (www.rfconcepts.co.uk/helmet_cameras.htm). For this you need a camera that has an AV in socket. The DV camera then does not need to be solid mounted and can be hidden away in a safe place. The bullet cam can be mounted in all sorts of positions and can be taped, velcroed or mounted using a clamp and ball joint. The Demon Tweaks product is quite expensive and you can save a few quid by using a Manfrotto super clamp combined with a suitable ball joint - I have just ordered this combination from www.karlu.com for about £60.
If you decide to stick with just the DV camera then make sure you get a lens cover/filter as stones can finish off the camera lens quite easily.

Many thanks for the help fellers!! I went for the JVC DVX707 in the end bolted to the Tweeks mount and having used it at a Hillclimb on saturday the results are superb would of been even better if my dad remembered to switch it on for the last two runs!!
