Hi guys.
I was progressing at a reasonable pace as Friday night rush hour traffic would allow on the Surrey stretch of the M25, when I spotted a familiar red vision in my mirror. I pulled over to allow him to catch up, hoping to share a moment of common interest amongst drivers of fine automobiles.
Not a bit of it, as I glanced across to give a smile, perhaps a thumbs up he floored it past me for the couple of hundred yards he had before catching up with the traffic, then was forced to brake hard to a more sedentary pace.
Instead of appreciating a beautiful car I was just left with thinking what a plonker. It just looked so pathetic, I hope not a PH'er.
I have met a number of great Ferrari drivers, but ths one did you no credit.

that's harsh
Didn't mean it to sound harsh.I've been driving long enough to recognise when another car is trying to make a point. A crowded M25 was not the place. He was quite sedate catching me up, then floored it with no real space in front to do anything but slam on the brakes.
Apologies if I have mis-read the intention.

Perhaps, having noted your interest, he thought you'd appreciate the sound at high revs. If I see a window drop as I approach I occasionally do the same, sorry if this causes offense. Maybe I should reconsider? It'd save petrol!!
Best Wishes.
Don't reconsider, if i drop the window, it is ALWAYS to hear the engine note, so a little revvyness is appreciated
Best Wishes.

Perhaps... But I didnt feel the need to let him hear my V12 for all of 2 seconds before hitting the anchors. Open road a different matter.
Best Wishes.

Having looked to see what you're driving I accept your point; it could have been a little unnecessary.
Perhaps the car behind you lowered his window and he didn't even notice you?!!!

Having re-read your initial (somewhat condescending) post and with due regard to your PistonHeads name, I should imagine you fit right in on the Aston Martin forum. I made the mistake of venturing over there once when I was considering a DB9 for my other half. You seem to have more than your fair share of Alan Partridge types. I think what you really need is a sense of humour in these situations. It's all about performance, showing off and having fun, which is pretty much a prerequisite before you buy anything exotic and I'm afraid the AM doesn't quite cut it in that respect IMHO. I imagine most Ferrari drivers understand this, I'd recommend you try it! (I don't think it was by the way)
i suppose whoever it was may have had other things on their mind, it's tough to guess without having been there.
I don't know any exotic car owners who aren't simply enthusiasts.
personally if someone drops a window or gives a thumbs up i'll try and give them a smile by letting the car (and it's always about the car - i'm old and ugly enough to know it's nothing to do with the driver!)
If i see another exotic car i'll give them a thumbs up and more often than not drop my window too!
