My car is doing weird things!!

The window drops when you press the button to open the door then drops again when the door releases.

When you arm the alarm it stops about 1cm before the top and sometimes if I dis-arm and then arm again it fully closes. Sometims it doesn't and I have to reach in the passenger side and do it manually.

The open/close switch inside the car is slow to respond as well.

Oh.... I swapped the main control units over and it still does it so I think I've ruled out the main window/door ecu.

Any help would be appreciated

Couple of things

Take the door card off and clean all the connections, take the encoder out and dry it on top of a radiator.

Then reset it all by arming the alarm in the closed position. Sometimes you have to unplug the door ecu as well. If after all that it still doesn't work then swap the encoders, there is a cheap one on eBay at the moment.

Mine used to do exactly what you describe. Strangely it would then seemingly fix itself but only for a while. My solution in the end was to sell the car which worked a treat. wink

However I was advised that is was the window encoder causing the problem.

Yes it sounds like the encoder. I have had very similar symptoms which were cured with new ones.

Hi

Thanks to everyone who replied.

Anyone who may be looking at the same problem... it was the window encoder. Old one out (fiddly!) new one in and fixed biggrin
