I got both for an M from Adrian at exactlyTVR recently, not sure if they are the same, but may be worth a phone call.

They are ford Consul screens, Now a MK2 Consul came in high line and low line models so I am not sure if 2 consul screens were originally produced??

Little bit before my time, but the part numbers for the Vixen/Consul MkII back windows are the same.

I think you mean front screen, Glassy. The rear screens were/are unique to TVR.

My understanding is that the OE spec. to the Ford is Toughened glass where as the TVR is laminated ..I also understand that this might not be relevant to new stock, but in these day of new old stock appearing for sale on the net ...worth noting.

TVR,s were originally fitted with OE Toughened glass, laminated screens were optional extras even on early "M" series

Laminated cost £15 as an optional extra in 1971, laminated and tinted was an extra £25.

do i understand correctly, that the backwindow of a Ford Consul MK2, is the same as a front window of a Vixen? is it laminated and do you have some more info on this?

The Consul MkII back window is same part number as TVR 3000M, TAIMAR 62/80.

(Like I said, before my time)

The original ones would have been toughened and many second hand ones would be too. New screens will be laminated.

Eh - I'm totally confused now too.

The TVR Vixen FRONT screen is the same as the Ford Consul Mk2 Lowline FRONT screen.

The TVR Vixen Rear screen was TVR only.

Am I wrong?

LOL..why did Ford even get mentioned!...in all my time I have only ever seen 2 toughened TVR screen and I threw one away, I sometimes forget that there were TVR's before M's and did know that they were options on early cars Steve/Michael.
Adrian@
+1 As Michael pointed out, and I told him to throw his away...

the reason why i'm looking for alternative partnumbers, is because it's difficult to obtain a TVR window in the Netherlands and shipping from GB is almost impossible.
maybe the window is easier to get, when they think it's a Ford part wink

Oscar, it is not impossible to ship glass from UK, it is just not possible to insure it i'n transit so if it arrives broken it's your loss. There are several variations on the Ford Consul windscreen so be sure you get the right one.

Seems as usual people are just pissing you about when you've asked for information.
Here's a link to the glass codes for the front screen - depending on whether you want clear/green tint & with/without an integral sun strip.

http://www.classic-autoglas.com/tvr-160025003000m-...

It's in German but google can handle that for you.

The ARGIC code at the end is the saint-gobain / Pilkington code that you should be able to ask your windscreen supplier to source for you.

Seabass...I don't think pissing about is any where near the mark here..the OP is looking for alternative part numbers rather than standard numbers and a confirmation of a model Ford perhaps...prior to posting here, Oscar posted direct to me (and I replied) that he was browsing for for items for his car and in respect of the glass, he would of got the same reply from most people, that glass is shipped at the owners risk I CANNOT ship glass to the next street let alone abroad.
Along with the Ford replies he got real information on people not knowing which model Ford it was and OE Ford being toughened not laminate and new old stock items should be avoided (which applies to glass/clutches/brake materials and tyres)...all rather helpful.

What Steve say's Lol
