Following on from some discussions on another thread re making money on Forza and how to paint, thought I would start this thread to give help and advice.

I'm sure some of us will be happy to share some little snippets for money making, a little easy one, buy a Fiat 500 on the AH, can be bought for 1K, simply paint it yellow, put on black chequered squares down each side, the word taxi on the back, straight back onto the AH at 50k buy out, easy 49K profit wink

Right now my 1st tutorial, we will start nice and easy.....

Open Creator....(see told it was easy)

Add a shape...chose a circle...size 0.81 x 0.81...colour black.
Add a shape...chose a square...size 0.82 x 0.22...colour black, move this to Y 0.00 X 40.00
Go back to the circle press X to cut it and then Y to re-insert it, then highlight new layer and press Y again. You should now see a circle, a square and a circle in that order.
The 2nd circle now change colour to white (note it will disappear because of white background), now change size, drop it down to 0.50 x 0.50 (as you reduce it the black layer below will appear).

Highlight all 3 layers (right trigger), and press A, scroll down to 'group'.

Congratulations you have just created an 'a'.

Now (a bit of a cheat) cut (X) and paste 4 times (you now have 4 'a's one behind the other.
Select the 1st 'a' and change position. Move it to X 0.00 Y -200.00 (just for the moment)
Move the 2nd 'a' to X 0.00 Y -80.00. 3rd 'a' to X 0.00 Y +80.00 and 4th to X 0.00 Y +200.00.

You now have a line of 4 'a's.

Highlight the second 2, press A and scroll down to UNGROUP. You now have black circle, black square and white circle (as well as 3 'a's). Now select the Square change the size to 1.10 high, maintain the 0.22 width now move it upwards until the bottom is level (keep the background grid up), now highlight the circle/square/circle as above and group them....You now have a d too.

Either repeat the above step for 'a' 3 or if you want cut and paste the 'd' twice, moving the 2nd to the X 0.00 Y +80.00 location and remove 'a' 3 totally.

You should now have a d d a

Create a new Layer another square 0.82 x 0.22 it will appear right between the two 'd's, and now another new square layer, 0.20 x 0.22 and move it to Y +75.00 X 0.00.

Now create new layer...select lower letters 1 's'. size is 1.00 x 1.00 move it to Y 10.00 X 315.00, its already the right size.....

WELL DONE YOU NOW HAVE adidas thumbup

Now before we get into the difficult bit, highlight everything and group it. Now move the group to Y -120.00 X 0.00.

Now for the stripes.

Create a square Y 0.26 X 0.95, SKEW it to -0.50 and move it to Y 0.26 X 0.95
Create a square Y 1.05 X 0.95, SKEW it to -0.50 and move it to Y 25.50 X 69.50
Create a square Y 1.05 X 0.95, SKEW it to -0.50 and move it to Y 26.50 X 87.50

Create a square Y 0.27 X 0.85, SPIN it to +26.50 and move it to Y 3.00 X -218.50
Create a square Y 0.27 X 0.36, SPIN it to +26.50 and move it to Y -14.00 X -175.00
Create a square Y 0.54 X 0.85, SPIN it to +26.50 and move it to Y 87.00 X -100.00
Create a square Y 1.40 X 0.85, SPIN it to +26.50 and move it to Y 132.00 X 35.00

You now have the stripes too.

Highlight any layer you have used and press A, scroll down to 'Highlight all layers', you will see a little yellow triangle in all the layers, press A again and scroll down to group, now change position to 0.00 / 0.00, press A again and save vinyl group 'adidas'.

Well done you have just made your 1st logo thumbup

One thing, this is a simple version for putting on a white car, if you are putting it onto a different colour you will have to ungroup the layers and change the white centres to the letters to the colour of the area it is going on.

ENJOY smile

When creating a decal, can you pan within the window? or zoom in/out? ie if I try to write a long word, I run out of room as i can't move the letters far enough... iykwim?

No you cant. Just scale to work down as a group and continue. Or make 2 horizontal lines for top and bottom of text/logo and move along. Once nearly done you can scale down and move about.

Already made my first credits with the adidas logo, thank you very much.

I think some of your X's and Y's were a tad off though carl, I had to move the stripes around to get the position right. Still excellent tutorial and easy to follow, only took 20 minutes.

Ok mate ill pop one up later tonight with some pics. Its one of the good ones as i think you can cover the top of a car with just 20 odd layers.

Another tip. When you make a logo dont leave it just sitting on the SF forever. Every now and then remove it and put it back up as the SF defaults to the most recent files wink

A little thing I do when making words (using standard forza fonts not custom) is I make the first letter whatever size shape etc then just stamp it the number of times there are letters, Then just select change vinyl shape and choose the letter you wish.
It makes for correct size letters and keeps them inline and all that is required is moving the letters so the gap between them is equal.

Might not be for everyone but it's what I do smile

I've got a logo I want to make but i'm not sure how to do it so gonna need tips.

Haven't got any pictures yet but i'll post some when I'm home, it's of the Speedsport logo as I did some work experience with them last year so thought it'd be good to make it on forza!

Little bit of a cheat for outlining letters, make the complete word up then group it, copy and paste the group 5 times, then change the first 4 to the outline colour, in this case white, then move each of them 1x +0.05 +0.05, 1x -0.05 +0.05, 1x -0.05 -0.05 and finally 1x +0.05 -0.05. you now have each spread out slightly and group 5 in the middle the main colour (can adjust to 0.10 if you want)
