Any idea how much for soffits and gutters for a pair of three bed semis? There's a total of about 40 yards required, with four corners, four downpipes and all brackets etc.

The price will depend on how low your top is and how high your skirt is when the salesman comes round to your house.

I paid about £60 a metre for a good job using good products. Neighbour had his done by a 'travelling saleman' and ended up re-doing it himself, the only bit that was straight was the fall of the gutter!!

You can expect to pay between £60-£75 per metre. So about £3000 for 40 metres, thats full replacement with felt support boards.

Look for rainscreen cladding contractors in the area and ask if they can price it for you. You may get an opportunity to pay a few of their guys cash for a weekend installation using better quality cladding boards.

I just had this done today on a detached house but about 40m in total, was just under 3k & no scaffolding cost.

Try Everest and be sitting down as it will be 2-3 times as much as a keen quote !

Do you know anyone in the trade?

The Brother's in law did ours at the weekend - probably just under 20m full replacement, 2 box corners, 1 downpipe (rear was done by neighbors), felt under trays and guttering....£270 using Eurocell product (oh and lots of beer wink )

I used Eurocell fascia (golden oak effect) worked out at £8.60 per metre for the fascia, I didn't have any soffit, but it can't be more than the fascia. Assuming you're in white, i'd say £15 will be more than adequate.

If you work on £15 per metre for materials, you'll be looking at about £500 in material cost for fascias and soffits.

£500 fascia/soffits
£200 for guttering
£40 for end outlets
£40 for down pipes
£30 for brackets
£10 for polys

2 guys, 2 days work
£600 max

£1500 should be doable

Unless they need scaffolding

Hmm...mines's a fairly standard detached house and it took 3 men and a lad 4 days and they had portable scaffolding for a side / end at a time. The gables gave them a bit of trouble as they couldn't separate the cementboard supporting the mortar from the top edge of the bargeboards.

A neighbour of mine (who'd not that long ago had a heart attack) did his himself with his missus helping, but he was at it for weeks.

Scaffolding can actually add a fair bit of time to the job. With 2 up ladders and 1 on the ground cutting etc, the gable end took 2 1/2 - 3 hours and probably about 4ish hours for each side.

So it's subjective to what's there already I suppose?

I had one guy fit my soffits, fascias and guttering in a day, including a dormer, but I had the scaffolding there already and he only charged £120 for his time (arrived at 8 left at 4) all materials were on site.

Fair comment - but this was DIY rather than trade working and I'll be damned if any one tells me how far I can get up a ladder wink

BiL did the apex - I stayed at the eaves wink
