I don't watch or read much of the press but I have to say, he's very very good good at conveying excitement and enthusiasm. I think my heart genuinely started racing a bit when I was watching his Scud+Fiorano lap here. He gets so fired up for all the same reasons we do but he manages to convey that through the camera so well. Makes you realise just how synthetic the likes of Calrkson etc.. are when they try and look excited or try and illustrate speed, thrill and driving passion. Great piece of video:

The 1st video I watched with him I had him pegged as a major league tt. I still find him irritating at times but he does seem to be among the best at what he does.

Can't see him being a fixture on sunday night telly though...
