Radio code

After a flat battery I need a radio code, anyone know if these websites that generate them for you for a fee work?

most people tend not to bother changing them so the factory setting normally works.

I dont know from personal experience but when I sounded out my mate the auto-electrician about doing the code on the wifes zafira after I changed its battery he said he would just get the code off the internet so I guess it will work. I will be doing this once the radio keys I have ordered arrive. After asking vauxhall how much it costs to get the code from them I will not be going back to get it done by them, the local stealer wanted £34+vat to get me it!

Most cars will have them in either the instruction guide with the car, or the service manual.

Failing that, they're sometimes written on the top of the radio unit.

I have a code generator for ford m series radios at work but i need the serial number

Dont laugh, it is the dog transport Renault Kangoo! I dont have any service books, owners manual etc, had the radio out and it is not printerd/written on it. The unit does not even have a make on it, it is just a bog standard Renault fitment.

It would be in the front of the service book, if you do not have this then a call to your dealer will get it for you...

I needed one for my Civic Type R, rang Honda dealership, they asked my reg and gave me the code. I reactivated the stereo and I've not used it since.

The Merc dealer told me over the 'phone. As another poster said helpful but worrying. Still I suppose the market for used 1998 head units is probably quite small....

Even more so if the head unit is model specific and not interchangeable with other cars, like the Civic Type R unit, or say, a Vauxhall Astra unit on the last generation of Astras. I suppose if you've got a car that will accept one of these units, you will already have the unit installed in that car by default, so no need to go on the rob!
