Im thinking of getting another car to thrash about in.Does not need to be particularly practical but does need to be fun and not too big. With an absolute max of 2k Im thinking Mk2 MR2 or MX5.Feel free to add any other suggestions.

MX5 is definitely more fun to drive than the MR2 (I've owned both). MR2 is more comfortable and roomier though

MX5 sounds perfect for the job. I may even have one up for sale soon!

Hmm sounds like the MR2 would be more useful for slightly longer runs out.

Surprisingly good on fuel once you get on the motorway as well but the MX5 would be better around town. I'll be selling mine presuming it passes the MOT on Friday whistle

If you're not that fussed about RWD, I can recommend a vtec prelude for ragging the tits off, picked mine up for a grand in Nov stuck about 5k on it and having a whale of a time with it, if you go for an import instead of uk look out for ones with 4ws, makes for more fun on roundabouts but its not quite a sub for rwd...

Used to have a 1992 2.3 Prelude with 4ws which was nice and sounded awesome when at high revs but I got bored with the auto box.I can imagine way more fun with a manual box.

quite a bit of choice. Just depends what floats tour boat.

MR2 is a fine car as is the mx5. Although you'll get more MGF for your money at this price and a VVC will be faster than MKI MX-5.

Last weeks SOTW the Rover BRM would be a good capable hot hatch at this price.

Or you could look at things like:

TR7
Spitfire
Classis Mini 1275GT
Modded Morris Minor
Robin Hood 2b
Escort RS Turbo
MG Maestro turbo
Celica 2.0 GT
200SX
Pontiac Fiero mid engined something different
Firebird/Trans Am 3rd Gen
Fox body 5.0 Mustang
10th Gen T-Bird, V8 or Supercharged V6
Jag XJ40/X300
Jag XJS
Pug Rallye
Rover 220 Tomcat
Alfa 75
MG ZS180
Alfa GTV
Fiat Coupe
Fiat Barchetta
Porsche 924
RX-7 Gen 1 or 2
Supra (turbo) MKIII
Z31 300ZX
Rover P6
Opel Manta
Sierra XR4i
MKI Scirocco
Prelude 2.2

Some delightful choices in amongst that lot thanks.I want to keep it manual and small-ish physically with an engine size max of about 2.0 I think.

2.3 autos are a bag o' ste when compared with a 2.2 manual.

To me MR2 is more fun, either mk1 and mk2. I have owned them too smile
