just got back from a road rally in bethune in france, the rally was a one day event but we stopped over to make a proper break of it, and it was a fantastic 4 days.

apparently there are no sagaris in France as they will not pass the emissions laws and safety specs, so to have one parked up in the town square before and at the end of the event meant it drew large crowds of admirers, I even had one woman who wanted a photo of her baby sat in it!, hehe a bit different to young lads wanting to have a quick sit in the car!

a few pics

the sag didn`t miss a beat, it was just its driver letting the car down badly(I can`t fault my wife who was navigating)hehe,we got completely lost on the first stage, but got better in the second and third stages thanks to fellow pistonheader hethelred in his Lotus Exige.

an intersting point though, how much fuel can you fit in your sag?
I`ve filled up before now just putting in say £50 worth when quarter full with the guage then registering full, but in france I filled until the pump cut out, as there are very few petrol stations open on a sunday, but afterwards my fuel guage didn`t move off of the full mark for some 150 miles, so I reckon that even though the fuel gauge reads full, you can get another 4 gallons at least on top, if that makes sense, my mate in his chim thought I had the most economical sag in history, he was nearly out after filling up at the same time as me, and I was just on 3/4 of a tankhehe I think 3/4 should really read 1/2 tank full hehe

Out of interest what was the rally and how did you find out about it? Wouldn't mind giving it a go next year.

you need to keep an eye out on the main events forum , not the tvr events, it will probably be up again around christmas time this year looking for entries.

it is a proper road based rally, 3 stages, check points, road markers to note down, and a route given out in a road book, not easy, we found it pretty hard, until you can manage to tack on behind someone who knows the route and what they are doinghehebut great fun, out in the countryside on some great roads, and the odd small bumpy lane thrown in for good measure.

would be great to get a decent tvr contingent there next year.

Clive

Nice pics I had the same prob the first time I took the Sag down to my home in the SW France on a normal 10-12hr drive from the eurotunnel took nearly 3x as long as everywhere I stopped - the car was mauled.

Police got photo op on one motorway when I went thru the tolls

Im looking forward to taking the car down there again when I get back from wotk in Tunisia

They certainly do! In Casino Square it was constatly surrounded - it took ages to take a photo as there were soooooo many people looking at it you couldn't see the car!

Even 'Les Flics' wanted a good look!

In the end had to move the car to take another photo
