we are going to america at the end of the month and this time won't be using hotel parking so i'm looking for some advice on the best non valet parking to use.

safety and large spaces are more important than price.the car is nothing exotic but still my p+j.

i'm not sure which terminal we'll be going from but its with united airlines.

many thanks.

I have used the BAA carpark.

It was secure and cuts down on the transit time to the airport as you are on site.
Plus you can choose where to park (minimise the door dingers)

I would park my p&j there again.

I know you said you dont want to use hotel parking, but why not?

i paid £69 at the IBIS at Heathrow which included 15 days parking.

Cant get any cheaper than that, plus we had a relaxing night before travel.

(yes yes, I know the IBIS is not the usual 8* PH luxury, but it was OK for us!)

Edited for Spacca spelling.

I've used Purple parking the last few times I've been going out of Heathrow. Not far from the terminal, very easy to find and they operate minibuses from their parking site that drop you directly at the departures drop off.

I found them to be very reasonably priced, and their security and staff were brilliant. Let me know if you need more info.

I use BAA Business Parking normally around the same price if pre-booked as Long stay & the car has always been safe. Last time we did family with 5 up I hired a local private hire mini bus though as there wasn't enough room in the car for 5 plus cases.

From memory, I think purple parking is where you go into the car park zone and jump on a transfer bus. The staff park the car for you.

This was the reason I didn't choose them on my last trip from Heathrow.

Purple are secure and I have used them with less precious cars, but I didn't want them touching my current car, even if it was just to drive it deeper into the car park.

I use the terminal 5 short stay - on the BAA website you can book it for as long as you want, so long as you book in advance it's a little more expensive than the long stays but not much and no messing about with transfer buses. It has quiet corners that don't get full and can save a nice chunk of time. Not much use if you aren't flying BA from T5 though.

I've used Securepark Heathrow quite a few times and its excellent:

Meet you at the terminal and take your car from you, phone when you land on your return and it's waiting for you when you exit the terminal, no matter what time your flight. Cheap as chips too.

Sorry, just noticed your preference for non valet service. Ignore me!

This is true, and I have used a hire car when booking with them before, so wasn't bothered. However, last time I booked, I asked whether a space could be allocated and I drove with the guy to the relevant space.

The thing I like about them as well is that a number of different images are taken of the car as it enters. They also do walkarounds before you leave the vehicle with them. However, I can understand that leaving a car that is particularly precious probably isn't the nicest feeling.

Google Heathrow Parking and go for the cheapest, it's what I've always done and never, ever had problems. Some you park yourself, some they hide away for you, it's always waiting when I get back no problems at all.

This. BAA parking website can have great deals on short stay if you're only going a week or two, and it saves all the faffing about with buses.

Have used Purple Parking several times and would do so again.

They'll pick up and return your car to the terminal for a few pounds more if you don't want to do the pick up/bus thing - useful with 2 toddlers and a million bags after a 13 hour flight.
