95 Chimaera, want to fit mirrors with buttons

I am upgrading to later mirrors, and have a set from a Tuscan complete with door opening buttons - which my 95 car never had.

Anyone know what I'd need to do to make use of these buttons? Preferably to open the doors please!

Thats a no then! OK, guess I'll have to work it out for myself then.

Well I assume the buttons operate a solenoid somewhere. I also guess there is a control unit inbetween as I think there is a way to open the passenger door from the drivers button on some models.

I suggest a trip to the scrappers and a rummage.

Thanks Trefor. I guess so, if I can find one that allows rummaging! Otherwise find a cooperative owner of a newer car and take a peek behind the seats in theirs to see what differs behind the access flaps.

If there is a control box hopefully it isn't as well hidden as the fabled Cerbera mirror ECU, which Douglas Valley haven't been able to find in any car. Which is a shame as I need one of those too!

Been thinking ... what are you going to do with the existing door buttons? 'glass over them?

Yup, glass 'em over then blend in the paintwork. I'll be getting the mirrors painted anyway, so just a little extra paint!

somebody did this about a year ago - he had to buy mirrors off a corrado, get the spacer blocks from tvr, then re-wire.
do a search of the archives? the guy put up pics and wiring details and everything, from what i remember.

Thanks Chimburt, but I already have all that stuff. I have the mirrors, I have the TVR blocks, its all ready to spray and fit.

The thread you refer to does not mention the door openers ... they used Corrado mirrors, off a Corrado, not TVR modified Corrado mirrors off a, well, TVR.

I have two extra wires over and above the ones mentioned in the mirror conversion threads, which need to feed a solenoid to pop the doors, hopefully only when the car is unlocked. There may be a control box somewhere that I need, as well as the solenoids - this is the info I need.
