When taxing a car....?

My tax disc expires on 30/4/11. However, I've been sent a letter asking for renewal. If I do so now, and let's say my letter arrives at the DVLA on 15/4/11, will they give my tax disc the date 15/4/12, or will they see my last disc and post date the new one so it ends 30/4/12?

It will be post dated to 30/4/12.

You get 12 months from the expiry of your current one so you can get your new one from the 5th of the month in which the old one expires.

12 months = 30.04.2012, whether you renew online, at a Post Office, by mail, by phone etc..

The only problem I've found with it is, if your tax and insurance fall within a few days of each other MID is slow to update so the DVLA won't issue the disc.

No I haven't taxed a car before, which is why I'm asking
