MOT Question

just bought a new car, which has no TAX or MOT.in liverpool

not that im going to but my local garage said if i book it with them then i can drive it from Liverpool to Heathrow 4 hours journey , surely this is not legal?

I know you're allowed to drive the car to a pre-arranged MOT, but a 4hr drive might be taking the piss a little

You can drive a car with no MOT to a test station providing you have a test booked. I don't think you can drive a car with no tax anywhere though. Also a 4 hour drive to the test station is probably pushing it a bit.

Also your insurer may not insure you without an MOT, although I think you will always be covered for third party liability as they can't remove that. Could be taking out of my hat though.

How do you get the tax without the MOT?

Insurance is valid TPO for taking the car to MOT, even if it specifically states otherwise.
