Poole: it's a beautiful place...

is it f**k!
had to go down there yesterday to open a new account, hadn't been there on foot in years. it has to be a contender for biggest dump on the south coast now, surely? what an absolute, depressing, inbred HOLE of a town.
Bournemouth isn't brilliant but at least it makes a bit of an effort. Walking through Poole bus station felt like being in life on mars.

It's changed a lot... I used to go there for 'summah holidaysss' when I was a young'un... went back there this year with the memsahib, wasn't that impressed. Just another provincial town. Do like the quay though, even if it's been totally yuppified.
The awesome model shop is still there too.

I live in Poole and admit that the town centre shopping streets are awful. It needs a major refurbishment to bring it up to date and fill the empty shops. But isn't this the case in the majority of towns around the UK? Five minutes walk from the town centre is the fantastic Poole Park with and of course there are the beaches in and around Sandbanks. There is also the great country park at Upton on the outskirts. Where else in the UK has easy access to the amazing Jurassic Coast, miles of amazing beaches and good weather most of the year. Who cares if the shopping centre is terrible and full of chavvy kids as I hardly go there and shop either online or at other places, like the majority of people in the country today. Just because one part of the town is bad doesn't mean the rest of it is.
Rant over!

I think the real problem with Poole centre is that most visitors arrive via the bus station, & that must be the worse introduction to a town you will ever see. Lots of low life milling around as has been said. The ammount of very young girls with kids is scarey!
Shopping centres themselves are a magnet for the scummy end of any towns population, & I agree that visually it is a really depressing place.
I think it improves as you get up nearer the quay, but I prefer to shop in Bournemouth these days. And the women are much better looking there too.

Sandbanks, the Quay, Poole park are all lovely places to go!
Can't beat leaving here with all the lovely beaches and the Forest 15 mins away, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else except Birmingham and Welwyn Garden City
Birmingham?! I'll stay on the south coast please! Sandbanks, the Quay, Poole park are all lovely places to go!

Poole, where to start, well the bus station is as good as any. It seems to be solely inhabited by chavs, 'quel surprise', and the old. Now when I say old please don't picture nice old dears with Scotty dogs and shopping trolley, no, these are rude and obnoxious, they barge past you and leave you choking on their Marlboro Red fumes. Great example for the kids.
Then the high street is almost exactly as Leesa describes, except she missed the 'Big Issue' sellers who, when not thrusting their publication in your face, spend the rest of their time boasting how 'ard their pit bulls are. The far end off the high street is looking decidedly ghost town like.
The quay is a nice place to be and I quite regularly spend the evening in Sandacres down at Sandbanks.
Still much better than Boscombe.

The place is a dump!
Every female over the age of 12, wears legging and is pushing a
baby.
Every male over 12 has tattoos on their neck!
And everyone walks around with a fag hanging out their mouth!
But then saying about this thread, have you been to
Boscombe lately?
DON'T!
Could not agree more you have summed it up to a teeEvery female over the age of 12, wears legging and is pushing a
