I'm looking for recommendations and suggestions for a nice hotel in Central London, preferably nearish to Chelsea (but not necessarily) for 2 nights in August. A little luxury but not snotty.

That's about the only criteria I think.

Thanks smile

The Landmark is nice, pricey, but aren't they all. Valet parking and close to the West End.

Depending on your budget (expenisive area and expensive time of year) id consider MyHotel in Chelsea http://www.myhotels.com/my-hotel-chelsea/index.htm... . Never stayed there as its only a short commute away but thoroughly enjoyed my stay with them on Brighton. They're a little unique, a little boutique and treat you as an individual.

...but at £160 per night it may be worth looking around!

That is beautiful. Utterly beautiful. Now is on the list.

The only other stipulation is a damn good breakfast. None of this vegan fruit stuff. PROPER fud. It's going to be a long couple of days!

La Reserve is nice. A boutique hotel fairly adjacent to Chelsea FC if that was the bit of Chelsea you were thinking of.

Otherwise the Sloane Sq hotel perhaps

Both do offers and discounts for early booking.

Any West End proper hotel is going to be starting at circa £150 a night though. Even Travel Inns/Premier Travel Lodge etc are £120 ish.

To be honest there isn't really a budget because it's a bit of a one off - I do like the look of the first.

It doesn't really matter where it is if I think about it because there are such things as taxis and tubes.

The main thing is that it's a damn nice hotel but not a tourist trap.

Blakes in South Ken is out because it's next to our old halls of residence and we cannot come around to that in our minds wink

Oh they are nice!

We're still discussing it. I'm hopeless at this choosing malarky.

Any other recommendations seeing as this now has made it's way back to the top.

+1 for The Landmark. Love staying there. There is a e-club that you can join to get better rates and breakfast is great. I don't know if they still do it but Sunday brunch is a belter with all you can eat and all the champagne you can drink!

It's horrible and full of Arabs.

Nearer to Chelsea, I'd suggest the Halkin or Blakes.

The inside of the Landmark might look nice but it's a st location IMHO as a tourist.....to the North there are some lovely council estates, to the West is the Edgware Road (see Zod's comment about Arab's) and it's right on the Marylebone Road which is very very busy. It's also not particularly near Chelsea.....

I thought I'd update this (not that anyone will be interested!) and report back. We stayed at the Horseguards and it was rather lovely. Coming home wasn't a happy event wink

Thanks for all the advice smile

The hotel at Chelsea stadium is fine. Had a huge room with breakfast and underground parking for £130.
