tyre change to higher profile, opinions please..

Pondering putting a slightly higher profile tyre on Tvr S, left factory with 205/60/15's which have a diameter of 627mm , putting 205/65/15's on means a tyre diameter of 647.5mm , about 20mm difference.

Tyre fitters say they can put them on & try it at full lock to check they dont catch anything in the arches?

its a 3.27% difference according to wheel checker online, & when speedo reads 70mph ill be doing 72.3, so doesnt seem to drastic a difference..

any thoughts appreciated

Your speedo is probably over-reading anyway, so if anything it'll most likely bring it closer to your true speed.

yeah i read that about speedos in a tyre thread i looked at earlier, doesnt seem a big problem

Yep, as long as they don't foul your calcs look ok.

What's the thought behind the change? Better ride or more choice of tyres?

i like my old S a lot, but the exhaust when i bought it was only 3" off the ground, thats in the centre of car when looking underneath, someone had swapped the original 205/60/15's (627mm) to 205/55/15's (607mm) as i gather they are cheaper which has lowered the car slightly & hardened the ride, the 205/65/15s (647mm) would bring it up a bit and make it a bit smoother, i hope..

i dont think speed bumps where invented in the late eighties when these cars where designed, i have to reverse in the driveway at an angle to stop it grounding and its not a steep drive, according to the workshop manual the suspension in these thinsg doesnt benefit much from low profile tyres anyway
