Vietnam War Films

Hamburger Hill is a good one, as is Platoon (from a grunt point of view IYSWIM)
I would have said Full Metal Jacket but that's a but of a let down to me. It is bearable though.
Good Morning Vietnam - not quite a "war" film as such, but can be funny as hell with the odd reference to war in there..

We Were Soldiers is really good from a historic/accuracy perspective, really interesting to see the first Air Cavalry stuff in action. The interwoven 'back home' scenes are annoying though.
Platoon is good, but after a while Charlie Sheen will really get to you. I liked Charlie MoPic, but since reading that it was filmed in California that's bugged me. The same goes for FMJ - bit overrated and filmed in the UK, not all that great really.
Not sure there's one pivotal movie, the're all pretty good - aside from the Missing in Action series
