I am after buying a garden vac for heavy duty use, the large ones on wheels seem too clumpy to transport about in my van. Must be a petrol one as I do lots of work outside and not always with eletricity.

Costco have a Ryobi for about £100 .

Thank you in advance.

Appologies for bad spelling .

Rod.

Garden vacs are crap
get a stihl back pack leaf blower and a rake and a large bucket, if you have a large nursery near you that does large specimen plants they usually give away large twin handled 90-110 litre tubs make ideal buckets.

I got a draper electric garden vac and it was great for about 5 times then it burnt out. If you have a small garden and are only ever going to vac light stuff it will probably do the job.

I then got the Stihl garden vac/blower. It is absolutely superb - as a blower it is powerful and the vac actually works. I have a very large garden with lots of trees dropping stuff into areas that are hard to use with a blower. The only thing I would say is that vacuuming up garden stuff with small twigs, cones etc that get in with leaves is very hard on the machine. Even with the Stihl I can hear that it sometimes strains and I am going to have to maintain it.

You won't regret buying the Still if this is something you will use fairly often.

Forget the Ryobi,I had one and could block it up within minutes.

Then bought a Stihl, first class piece of kit, although none will handle wet leaves without clogging up.

If you go the Stihl route buy a spare fan, this is the piece that wears away,as it does it reduces the sucking effort.

When I was looking at vac/blowers, Stihls were the only ones to have metal mulching blades. Wouldnt bother with anything else!

Thank you for the replies chaps. Think I am going along with the idea of using a blower, rake and bucket ( My uncle has a stihl backpack blower for sale - family rates wink ). Well until I can afford the Stihl blower/vac.

Thank you.
