Well, all I can say is it's the best £400 inc vat that you could possibly spend in your life. The things you learn you would probably never learn in a lifetime of driving.
The beginning of the day I was convinced that my 993 TT was prone to understeer. By the end of the day I could power slide and control my car around the circuit in complete confidence. Having the ability to deal with the $81T when it happens is an amazing feeling. Having the ability to induce the $81T to begin with is even better.

Apart from a couple of 100MPH spins that trashed the rear tyres, it was a very high value for money day.
Recommended to all, especially those who think they need to adjust tyre pressures, change shocks and springs etc to get the car to do this or that!

All in all it was 5 hours of learning more about tyres than you ever thought was possible, about your own abilities and the cars than you ever hoped you'd need to.

11/10

Was this the "Car control" course?

Was the £400 for a whole day?

It was £400 including VAT, not including tyres!

It was at Bruntingthorpe.

I did his course when it was on the constantly irrigated facilities at MIRA. What is the setup at Bruntingthorpe, what is the structure of the course like?

Alan

Agreed on all fronts (esp the rear tyre issue!)

There's a short vid somewhere of me (taken by another) of my day with Don in the M3.....

...found it www.SteveCarter.com/m3trash.wmv

You can see where the tyres went.

don palmer is 'the man'....as alan says....if you have a 911 and need someone to take you where you would fear to go on your own.
911nutter - as far as getting hold of him goes, if you seriously want the benefit then you need to persist, there are alternative tutors but this is not commodity market. PS I am not on commission

To all of the above:

Getting hold of him is an art form in itself, not helped because he's moving at the moment!
Persistance will pay off!

The nature of the course was a simple slalom between differently spaced cones and lots and lots of info about tyres and why they do what they do.
Initially I thought 'this looks like a load of rubbish', but within an hour I could see where he was coming from!

By the end of the day I was able to power slide the car in any direction I felt around the course which was absolutely incredible!

Not so incredible is that i've just discovered i need new front tyres too!
