Afternoon,

My wife and I are both 40 a day apart this year. We were planning on having a garden party (BBQ!!!) but I can't be arsed to cook the food myself. Hence thoughts have turned to hiring a chef for the afternoon.
We are based in Bedfordshire, would be a Saturday in September - does anyone have any recommendations?

Cheers.

How big an event? A chef will look at in one of two ways, either per head if it's a large number say 70+ or flat fee for less. Do you want them to provide the kit and food or just rock up and cook (doubt many chefs would do that).

As a guide to hire me with a hog roaster and a pig for 100 people plus, salads, breads, sauces and crocs. would be about £1500 for a day. For a mixed BBQ menu with a bit of seafood maybe £1800. That would be the price for somewhere local so I would guess you could get similar near to you.

You can get hog roast co. in for a bit less but they may add lots of extras on, I know of one that charges £1 a cover for apple sauce and they use paper plates!

Alternatively go to the back door of your local and offer the chef a couple of hundred quid to throw a sickie and hire the kit they suggest. Still not much change out of a grand by the time you hire everything in for a large number.

Hi,
I too am looking for a BBQ chef/Grill person.

I have a big BBQ and will be providing everything, all I need is someone to come and cook/serve it.
Everything will be prepped and ready to cook.

Party is 7th May for 40-50 people.

Any recommendations or contacts?

Thanks
Mark

PS> After googling for ages I am amazed there is not a website that offers this sort of thing!
