Where are the 'Project' Cerbs?

I am wondering what has happened to the various projects?

Whatever happened to The Phoenix? The last I heard it was at Austec - I presume the project has been scrapped and the engine bits are sitting in a box and the car body is sitting in a yard somewhere?

Ash also had a Mitsibushi based project Cerb being built a year or two ago. I presume it hasnt been completed? Its quiet on here without Ash - I presume he is otherwise engaged and unable to reach a computer wherever he is.

There is also the one with an engine from a Datsun, I mean Nissan, Skyline (Z Cars?).

Then of course there is the M3 based Cerb.

I havent seen or heard anything about these cars for months.

The LSn's are out there and I am sure there are probably 10 of those now.

And there is the Rover V8 powered one (why!!) that has been for sale a few times.

Cheap engines that makes a good noise, Maybe the owner could not afford a re-build so went this route, At least it put a TVR back on the road and makes it cheap to keep on the road. A hard top 4 seater Chim may appeal to some? The list could go on. who knows really but money would be my answer or lack of funding to re-build.

I tried to buy that red Rover V8 powered one around 4 years ago, before i bought my snapped crank one. It had a V8 developments engine in it, which i thought might be worth decent money, they wanted daft figures though.

But yeah, there was alot of noise about how that Skyline thing was gonna be the fastest Cerbera shaped blob...

I heard it was going to be six figures by the time it was completed!!!

Nobody knows, the mitsi engined cerb is still with carbon al. He hasn't been able to get hold of him for ages, and really needs to get the car shifted.

I've done a bit on mine over the winter, but I won't be posting it under the Cerb forum. I will up date the forum on a steering rack I've just pulled apart.......I can see why a lot get messed up when they go for overhaul!

Thought that I'd seen several shots of the completed Rolling Chassis, bodywork in white, at a show somewhere and that Paul at Austec was in a full-on mode with the Motor.
I guess the money ran out. It was an impossible project for one wallet to fund.
Almost as eccentric as developing a V8 engine for a production line of 1600 units

I am sure whetever has happened to Ash is directly related to being unable to contact him or for the projects to be funded. Say no more!

One can only assume that Paul has dumped the Phoenix rolling shell and the box of engine bits.

I assume that the mitsibushi project is 90% complete eg engine running, interior done and only bodywork mods (eg bonnet) to complete? But with no funds or contact it is stalled.

I presume the Z Car conversion has bled the owner dry and will never complete.

I would love to be proved wrong and see these machines at, for example, Chatsworth.

I hope Boosted/Rich keeps posting on here and maybe will be seen at Chatsworth again this year.

Phoenix's body is still sitting on top of a container in Austec's yard (covered in moss). I think that particular project is finished. Not heard of the other ones in a long time either... I've never really understood people who do that with big projects. Starting a big and crazy project car like that is a pretty extroverted thing to do, and so it would follow that they'd then want to tell the whole world about it when its even close to being done... Surely?!

The mitsi engine one is pretty much as gazzab said, it does run, but has been sitting around for well over a year now. If anyone can contact ash, he seriously needs to get hold of carbon al.

Seems a shame. Got to be your choice of course, but I think all the 'Cerb or not' stuff is pretty redundant. Most Cerb conversions, in fact I think all cerb conversions get a fair degree of praise on here.

If you post in an inflammatory way 'I got the fastest Cerb in the world powered by a Jet engine' then of course you are inviting banter, but most Cerb people, including me quite like to see the techincal bits of what can be done.

Pretty sure I heard that this one was finished and went over to Austria where it was to be hill climbed. Also heard that the cost went into six figures too (not surprising with Z Cars doing the work). Did look very well done though.
