front fog lights not working S3C

Hi all i noticed the front fog lights were not working when i bought the car three weeks ago so i had a look today no light on the switch when switched on and no reading to the lamps but im not sure what fuse to check as it does not say in the book or is it the switch at fault any ideas on this nige.

Are you sure they are fogs? Mine are spots come on with full beam when turned on.

Ditto Barkychoc's comments. Mine only come on when the headlights are on full beam - took me a whole weekend to work that out when I first got it. If that doesn't work PM me and I'll suggest some ideas to try out.

Some cars had fog lights, some had driving lights. Fog lights should only come on with dipped beam, driving lights should only come on with main beam. So try all the combinations before you conclude they don't work. The loom goes through connectors in front of each front wheel which are interior grade connectors exposed to all sort of much so they also suffer quite badly from corrosion - that's the first place to look for a problem if you're sure they really don't work.

Thanks guys now sorted, they do come on now with the full beam on now ive cleaned up the connectors at the front and thanks for the pdfs norman,the previous owner didnt think they were even wired up now on to the next job nige.

You might find a set of these useful. The lenses are vulnerable to stones etc.

You can also get heavy duty clear plastic sheet with a self-adhesive backing which sticks to the headlamps, driving lamps and even indicators to protect against stone chips. This has the advantage of eliminating the gap between the disc and the glass where dirt can collect. It also holds the glass together nicely if you're stupid enough to drive through a gravel trap at high speed.
