Heads up for E60/61 owners - gearbox issue

Thought I would share my experiences in the hope that they help someone else. My auto gearbox has been a bit slow and slipping / clunky for the first few changes when cold and I noticed some white smoke coming from udder the car and in the engine bay when the DPF filter was burning off. A look under the car showed a leak which turned out to be from the plastic sump on the box (a known weak spot in these cars - particularly after after 60K).

Fixed sump and topped up box and all is well, but it could have been an expensive fault had the oil around the DPF not caused smoke as you cant see a leak on the floor as the belly pan traps it all (and it blows off when driving).
