steering column play

Just had a mot fail on nob.
Failed on play on steering column,there is a bit off movement if you push and pull column,but he said
this was ok,but failed it on play up and down.
i have tightend the nut that part of the lever which adjusts column, but surely theres going to be a bit
of movement cos of the nature of the design.
Think the tester was a bit of a jobworth and mot station has just opened.
Also my car for some reason has been classed as not having original engine so has been classed as a
kit car, so dont need cats, which is a result.

Is a bit better,will have to have a chat to tester cos i dont think there is a problem,only have slight movement in column now. Just thought they all did this.Anyway will give update tomorrow.
Still happy with car cos new engine rebuild has been done and drove car today and sounds really sweet,
Those gt28 are really working great,just got to run car in for a bit,then back to dyno for some bhp fun

On the other GT28RS car i saw get tuned the only thing stopping it from creating massive power(or its true potential) was the fuel flow, to the point where the fuel pump packed in, all the other mods were carried out, it could only have been either a faulty fuel pump, restriction on fuel filter, fuel pump mounted incorrectly or problem with ARV.
On paper the Bosch 044 does the job but as they say any chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so its the other links to watch out for, is it possible to run 2 pipes from the tank for 2 fuel filters an then T them into one before the fuel pump? This would eliminate the fuel filter as a restriction.
Open up fuel return to tank if not already done.
My ARV only became troublesome after i increased power and fuel flow, when i took it off the ball was moving freely inside, which puzzled me because i obviously had a blockage, but what was causing the blockage?
I have been wondering about this for some time now, and i can only think that the ball inside is not weighted enough for high fuel flow(i think they used a ping pong ball)
, it is not a good design as it can be turned upside down and work the same both ways,it was designed for low fuel flow ford fiesta, so if the ball gets sucked up by too much pressure as fuel tank is trying to replace fuel with air, then the vacuum will hold it there, i would change or remove the ARV for piece of mind.

I will get all info on turbos and actuators from my engine builder as turbos have been altered to
suit my setup.
Have tested car and pulls realy strong from low rev range,also turbos run with smaller oil feed and with oil cooler have seen oil temps a lot lower than before the change

Sounds good Steve sounds like the hanger straight will be fun !!!
The reason I asked about actuators is the Gt28 make massive power on low boost , funky made 500 on low boost which I think is too much fir STD road use so I'm thinking about fitting softer actuators on mine so I wondered what you had fitted . Tux
