using old lenses

I was just looking at a website the gives instructions on how to build your own tilt and shift lens. ( http://cow.mooh.org/projects/tiltshift/ )

I was wondering would it be possible to do something similar with my dslr using some old slr lenses that I have kicking around.

What sort of things are possible using a dslr without a lens physically attached? Would the DSLR even take a picture? (maybe I should try pushing the button with the lens off?)

There are quite a few people who have tried the pin-hole approach, by drilling a small hole in the centre of a body cap.....

DON'T try drilling the hole while the cap is on the camera!
