...can you get in the tank?, handbook says 12.7 gals. Run the car down to just below the E twice now, can't get more than 7.5 gals in. Brimming off the tank gives a reading a needles width below the F. Whats gong on?
Any suggestions?

I can get 50 litres in mine when the needle's just on empty. Leaves a nominal 5 litre reserve which is handy.

It's not uncommon for the fuel gauge to be completely out of calibration though. Steve Heath's bible outlines the process for repositioning the float assembly in the fuel tank so it reads correctly at full and empty.

Doesn't the last bit disappear quickly though?

I tend to run for about 200 miles and then fill up...basically ignoring the fuel gauge

BTW I bought some OPTIMAX last weekend 86.9/l

There's a v useful website called www.aapetrolbusters.com which gives you the cheapest fuel near a particular postcode/location.

Only specifies super unleaded as on option rather than optimax tho!
