Daytona availability

They are £7k now, they were under £4k when I went on the list (only about 4 years ago I think). They don't seem such a bargain now - and used ones on watch forums are often around/below RRP.
TBH, I don't think they were that much of a bargain even at £4k. The Daytona was a grail watch of mine for a long time, and it took me a long time to work out in my mind whether I was willing to pay £7k for one. I did earlier this year, and I'm not sure it's a £7k watch. It's very petite by modern standards, and surprisingly, it's very hard to read the sub-dials because there is a lot of polished 'stuff' going on with the dial. The bracelet and clasp are much nicer than they were on the old ones though.I'm pretty sure that if I sold it - even with the stickers still on - I wouldn't get back what I paid for it, but I think that's been the case for a few years now. The days of getting one at RRP and flipping it straight away at a profit are long gone.
That being said, there is still a waiting list, and you never see a s/s one in an AD's window, so there are still people around who are prepared to pay silly money for them. You never know - the current model might just hold its price a bit better if they (Rolex) release an update to the s/s version next year. (The naff ceramic bezel that will appear on the t/t / gold ones later this year).

I do realise they were only so sought after by alot of people as you could buy new for £4k and sell it on at £6k+!
Those days are gone.
