Just spent a week in Tunisia forthe first time. Only booked a few weeks ago after fancying a week of r&r for as cheaply as possible. Was a little apprehensive with the trouble earlier this year. Have to say it's been superb from start to finish. All booked independently cost us £560 AI for a week in a 5* (by Tunisian standards) hotel. 25 degree heat and clear skys every day good food and drink. Must have been no more than 50 people in a hotel that can cater for 300+.

We've had to scale back our holidays this year with a wedding to pay for next year. I'm so impressed that i'm questioning whether there is any point in spending nearly 4 times that to go to the Carribean as we'd planned in September. If you're looking for a cheap escape give it a look, we stayed at he Royal El Mansour in Mahdia.

TBH having been different parts of Egypt within the last 5 years I was expecting the same sort of treatment once outside the hotel in Tunisia so I came not expecting to leave the hotel and didn't. Staff inside the hotel were very friendly though.
