The Body Is Off

Hi All.
Well today we got the body off, been struggling with working outside for over 2 years finally rented workspace.

Not much to do on the chassis, outriggers better than I was expecting, one small area drivers front has a few holes but not bad at all.










Going to go and spray the rusty diff bolts with a release oil and with a bit of luck strip everything off through the week.

Alan, I'd strip the chassis and get it shotblasted - it cost me about £100, when you think how many wire brushes you'll buy and how long it will take its worth every penny.
The chassis doesn't weigh that much on its own.

Hope to have it done before ? well I guess ASAP but lots to do, big jobs are almost done just to put it all back together, easier said than done, painting, I just don't know if I am going with red or black.
Now I have a dry space to work and I don't have to put everything back in a shed at night or when it rains. now I am able to crack on with it. Having 2 X 5 ton swing out chain falls made it easy for 2 of us to take the body off in 20 min, would have taken all day on the drive.

Hi Chris.
Will be sandblasted and powder coated after welding, I don't think I will be wire brushing as you say hard work. I have to look at the diff mounting, not sure if I should change it, I saw the one you have on page 17 of your build, I have the standard rubber one and as its down to the chassis now might be a good time to put something better on,

Wow those wheels look something special - How on earth did it look with those when the body was on - do you have a photo?

I have a picture but with no weight in the car the body is quite high. I was going to it all together but just need to finish the chassis.

As you can see lots of sanding down before paint, it had a bad paint job over real bad prep work.

Hi All.
Today I did a dry fit of the engine and box, just a bit of a mod to get the gearbox back 2" more so the front support I cut out can go back as on the V8 with bolts, started to fab the manifolds today but only 1/2 day allowed on the car.
I think I can drop the gearbox at the back to slide under the main rails without any fab work









Should start welding next weekend

are you making the exhaust prmaries all the same length? or just going to a 4-1 collector before joining the other manifold?

Just starting at the end and working to the front, no Going to do a 2 into one and pair them up, I have twin turbo's so the length is no as critical, been lots of hard work trying to do it on the drive so got a place to work in.
