If you had to choose one of the above four cars, what would you choose and why?

The 996 or the CSL would be my choice as I think they are rarer and would be more of an event. Just my 2p

GTR and 996 are easy to drive quick .... but some do like that it's a personal thing.

M3 will depreciate like a rock. Not that fast.
GTR will bankrupt you (but very fast)
CSL = lovely and tempting.
996 turbo - bargain supercar of the bunch. Remap to 500+bhp and enjoy with running costs less than half that of the GTR.

E92 M3 for me. I'd love a 911 Turbo, but I can't abide the front end on the 996. The GT-R appeals, but the idea of a nice big V8 and RWD is even more tempting.

If this is a 'what car' we need to help the OP to decide what sort of car he likes - turbo or N/A, awd or rwd, manual 'stick' or auto/tip/sequential etc.

I'm a Porsche man through and through, but I also have an affinity with a good BMW.

But for me, I have to have N/A power, an 'old school' manual box, and rwd. Therefore, of those cars it would have to be the M3.

BUT as a Porsche man I would be looking at a 996 GT3 or the best 993 (C2 or C2S) I could get. Or possibly a 997 Carrera/Carrera S if I wanted something newer.

M3 E92 not that fast? i thought they did 0-100mph in 10 seconds or something? hardly slow (ok compared to a GTR but not much is quicker than the nissan). Nice problem to have for the OP!
