Car from scratch???
Discussion
There is a lot of people with visions but not many viable projects financially in the real world. There is quite a broad spectrum of cars available already in the kit car world, something for everybody really. But with IVA and registration costing circa £1,000 per car and used Elises and 7's from £7k it's a hard business to crack successfully at the moment unless you are very very clever.
So lets see if I've got this so far:
Your easiest route is to find an existing set of molds and base your car on those. Alternatively aim for a very simple but pretty shape; Google the Byers CR90 (it doesn't have any doors which really helps costs and complexity) for an example that could be resurected as a weekend road and trackday car. If no one else does I might one day...
- You have a workshop and want a product to make in it.
- You don't have an idea for a product so you want to team up with someone who does.

The Byers is a fantastic looking car :-)Your easiest route is to find an existing set of molds and base your car on those. One of the Sammio Spyder bodies available is very similar to that of the Byers although the grill isnt right and the headlamps are slightly different. I think if you wanted to do one though, you may want to consider a slightly more powerful base than that the Sammio uses!

Thats the Herald isnt it? That low to the ground everything seems fast. :-)I think if you wanted to do one though, you may want to consider a slightly more powerful base than that the Sammio uses!

What about the Lightburn Zeta Sports? Not sure if you got that wonderful car over there in the UK. Honestly, if you took a Sammio and thought...I really have to fit this entire car into a suitcase...you would have the lightburn zeta sports. It was made by a company who made cement mixers iirc.

There is always room for kitcar friendly garages who do not turn their noses up at wierd cars, maybe first just get involved and build yourself a good reputation as a kitcar friendly repair business and see where that takes you. Do a few open days etc. And you will maybe get some ideas from the cars which come through your doors.

Thanks again guys for the input taking it all on board and special thanks to D Mulally for the pics how could i not of seen those seriously thanks again for your input.
We are curently in the process of designing an Aluminium Monocoque, bike engined RGB race car, that would be capable of being road legal and also modular so it can be built to suit mid or front engined applications, different roll cages and engines and also take an aero package if required. (its also designed for realistic manufacture and not Pie-In-The-Sky dreaming), the problem is we don't have the money (at them moment or a workshop (other than my grandparent garage) to build it in.We were going to start looking for a workshop soon and putting some money aside but we would love to get some help and share the project if you're interested.
Were abouts are you based?
