Within an an hour or so from Dunkirk

Going to get a ferry across mid afternoon on our trip to make headway. So we'll be needing a place to eat and kip not to far out of the way on our way down to Beaune.

I've see Boulogne, Saint-Omer, and thought about Brugge but its a bit pricey for nights kip.

Suggestions?

Stayed overnight in Brugge at the Europ Hotel.. Was £50 for the night.. average hotel, clean and parking in Brugge is free on a Sunday if thats any use..

Brugge is a lovely place to visit..

I think Brugge is going to be the destination, but that hotel... Pass please. It doesn't look very nice.

there is a Novotel in Brugge, if it is anything like the one in Ypres it will be pretty good for a nights stay.

Yes, I saw it. Seems steep at over €100 a night.

We've settled on Hotel De Flandre Gent, only 1h 15m from Dunkirk, and Gent is meant to be very good.

Have a look at the logis de france website - Some of the best hotel/restaurant combos I have used in France. Good geographical search on there too

Yeah, wasn't great, but it did the job.. was the cheapest we could find..

Gent is very nice, just as scenic as Bruges imho.
