Hmm, having trouble selecting gears last night, will try and bleed it over the weekend however if I have to have the slave done then I might get the rest changed at the same time.

Someone mentioned that it is the same part as a corvette, can anyone give me any more info, or failing that the part numbers for all the bits and I'll see what I can dig up.

The car is a very early 4.2 and it is on it's first clutch.

Thanks

Think you might find the clutch fingers have broken, but hope i'm wrong. Check the usual fluid level, and hope it just that.

Not sure on parts numbers, sorry.

I had the same problem with selecting gears. If its hard to select with the engine running but OK when not sounds like the clutch fingers.
The bad news is if yours is an early 4.2 you will be looking at clutch and flywheel which is about £1200 - £1400.

Thats what happened to mine. I had to have the upraded flywheel, which added £200 to the bill.

Yep sounds like the fingers to me.
Hope you have better luck for a quick turn around, my car was off road 7 weeks following clutch finger failure.
Make sure if you have full upgrade the Slave cylinder is resourced NOW. These I believe are made under licence therfore only available through TVR and are in short supply.

Just to add, I'm afraid I think it is the Fingers as well. Exactly the same experience as I had.

The gear selection problem will get worse exponentially, since the remaining fingers are under more stress when there are fewer fingers to do the work.

Sorry - wish I had cheaper news for you

What the bloody hell are clutch fingers?

Anyway, when the car is cold I start it and cannot get a gear. Once it is moving then I can change and once the car has done a few miles I can come to a standstill and engage, disengage with no issue.

Makes me think it might be fluid levels, also the fluid has not been changed for about a year.

Anyway I'll have a look this weekend. I'm a believer in magic so send happy thoughts my way

The fingers are on the diaphram spring, thats part of cover assembly, of the clutch. The part of the clutch that pushes on the release bearing.

Just to post an update.

Clutch bled over the w/e, pressure back (and fluid on carpet) and all has been well since.

So fingers are fine (this week at least).
If anyone is intereted dougles valley have a complete gearbox and clutch from a 4.5 (inc bellhouseind, slave etc etc) and they want £750 for it
