Some images taken at Doune Hill Climb, on 16th April 2011 on my Flickr website, including a rather dramatic coming together of a single seater and the crash barriers - thankfully everyone walked away.

Hey Ross, great image, right place and right time . . . I hear it only needs some wishbones and an upright and it'll be ready to go again . . . well and a front wing ;-)

Wow he is a braver man than most, don't think I would manage half the speeds he was doing.

I was there on Sunday and TBH it was a disappointing turnout, is the Saturday usually a bit better?

Saturday is practice so the same cars would be there. The June and September events are much better attended since they are rounds of the British Hillclimb Championship.

I see, might give the rest of the SHC events a miss then, the BHC bo-ness revival last year was brilliant and that's kind of what I was hoping for again.

Trust me the June and september Doune events are good, the September round is the final round of the British Championship and if it hasnt been decided before, the final run offs are blistering!

Lee is a top bloke, met him at kames last year when he shattered the record. BTW that video is him with the footage slowed down :-)

That's me on post one the day after that crash!

The saturday marshall got clipped by the car. When I was there on Sunday I could see how that could happen. There are a few gorse bushes that block the view so you have to be right on top of the track before you can see the cars coming round the first corner. The marshalls wouldn't have seen that car until it was almost on top of them. There is also a tree/bush that blocks the view in June/Sept completly.

There was a new bit of barrier built for Sunday though.

I was wondering why nobody wanted post one.

This is incorrect. There were two meetings at Doune at the weekend. One on the Saturday and one on the Sunday. Therefore practice and competition runs on both days.

Wrong again I am afraid!

The final round of the British Hill Climb Championship is at Loton Park.

What do you mean again?
Traditionally the September Doune was the last round, if it's changed then so be it, but dont you think that it would be a bit more useful and constructive to chip in a bit earlier and tell the guy about the June and September rounds instead of coming on here just to criticise me? And please expand on the again!

Oh Dear! I did not intend to upset anyone. I thought I was simply correcting your posts, certainly no intention to criticise. Both of your posts regarding Doune were wrong, hence the 'again'.

Ah sorry I didn't mean to fly off the handle, it appears that the format of the Doune Hillclimb has changed somewhat since my day, just put it down to me being a grumpy old man!
Actually I missed your first correction, so what was on on Saturday that was different from Sunday?
I only popped up on Sunday for a chat with some of the other geriatrics because it was drive it day.

Saturday was round one of the Scottish Hill Climb Championship,Sunday was round 2. There were a couple of different car on each day but in the main, most folk do both days.

The June and September meetings are also rounds of the BHC, so with larger entries have practice on the Saturday and the timed runs, and BHC run-offs on the Sunday.

Lee did a storming run and knocked another 2 tenths off the up-to-1600 class record. That run is truly awesome - over 3 seconds quicker than anyone else at the event! Well done that man.
