Ive been working on my Ultima for a year now and its now very close, i thought id post up some pictures. I think it looks a lot better in the flesh but im quite proud of it and hope to mot it next week and start using it soon after.

The engine install has been quite taxing and a few little compromises have been made to get it all in but nothing that will detract from the performance.

Im hoping she will be quite rapid on a 1/4 mile run and have a good chance of cracking 200mph in a mile at Fighting Torque, from what little ive driven it the LSD is the biggest thing i need to get comfortable with!!!

I like the skirts. Why the two metal supports to the front splitter. Are they necessary?

1. If Kyle is going close to 220 mph the front skirt might bend up and then understeer could become a problem
2. If he is opening the clip the struts will avoid that the skirt is breaking away when he is hitting the floor.....

could not resist

A splitter is only effective if you can stand on it, well depends on who's standing on it.
My old sport has them too, so it's a bit retro.

Very impressive Kyle.
I can only view on a 2" screen but that exhaust looks a work of art.
Talk soon

Very nice looking setup! Can i ask for some info on that intercooler? I thought you where going to be using a chargecooler?

Thanks,

Chris.

Would have thought Kyle has chosen the better route... A charge cooler would be a nightmare to plumb in trying to cool the water in the hot engine bay...

Kyle, there will be alot of heat rising from the engine in low speed traffic so a good heat shield underneath the intercooler will be a good idea as this will effect acceleration having a very hot intercooler.

The air coming into the the engine bay at higher speed will be great but only at speed.

Ive played arround with NOS cooling on turbo/ supercharged engines... We used a NOS jet infront of the intercooler to cool the intercooler to gain horsepower... PM me if you want to know more. We played with water injection too but again thats a different story..

There's a fan under the intercooler pulling cooler air through it.

If cooler intake temperatures are wanted in the future by going the intercooler route there will still be room to mount a water tank

honestly though.... if it was my car i don't think i would be to fussed if i lost a few horses.

Dom, my question was related to the size of the cooler and is it capable of supporting 700+bhp? Also, from the pics, it looks like there is no sealing between the intercooler and rear clip. THis i see as being a problem. Even cars with front mounted intercoolers often have a problem with actually getting the air THROUGH the intercooelr. Dont forget air will take the path of least resistance.

On the Chargecooelr, they often prove to be MORE effective in mid mounted setup as you are not restricted on where you mount the heat excahange. Obviously with an interoocler you need it to be near the engine and in mid engined app this normally leads to less than perfect intercooler design/airflow to the intercooler. The other thing MOST peoplr forget about chargecoolers is, due to the nature of there design, you need a MUCH smaller cross sectional area to support the same power.

The engine made 809bhp on Tim Adams dyno setup as shown!! It made 650bhp with no intercooler so im sure its ok. So yes the intercooler can support 700+ bhp.

Im quite happy with the install and if anyone wants to feel the force they are most welcome. A lot of people talk a good talk but do they ever practise what they preach, i had a plan and ive completed it to the best of my ability with my budget constraints. If i had a F1 budget im sure the install could be improved but how much power do you need in an Ultima?

Its currently the only ProCharged GTR in the world so im happy, mot tomorrow then im going to see what full throttle feels like!! If it starts raining on Sunday morning you know its me out destroying the ozone layer.

not sure yet Simon

spins the wheels in 4th on half throttle so i will need to wait until the tyres warm up a bit before we push any harder, its got an agressive LSD which is unpleasant at low speed but im hoping will help hookup a bit
