Waiting Time for Repair Parts

Unfortunately I had a prang a few weeks ago.
Accelerating up to join a Dual Carriageway,
slip road coming around slight bend,
doing a genuine 60-70 at the time, road damp
but not wet. Just straightening up from slip
road to join DC and the back end broke away.
Unfortunately it then went over the white paint
and grit between the slip and DC and did a near
180, slid across the DC and used the central
reservation crash barrier as a brake.
Fortunately not much coming up DC otherwise I
would have been broadsided and probably dead.
Boot and exhaust pipes a bit crumpled,
nearside rear suspension bashed and windscreen
cracked. Looked a bit like the Griff on P365 of
the bible.
Anyway, went through insurance and they towed it
off to the approved repairer. That was 6 weeks ago
now. They claim they are having problems getting
the suspension part as this is a TVR specific
component. Is this typical or should I be jumping
up and down. I was initially quoted 2-3 weeks.
As an aside, I am with Tesco insurance and their
courtesy car is only provided for 14 days which has
proved to be woefully inadequate. Something to
bear in mind when comparing quotes.
I decided to continue hiring the courtesy car as they
do preferential rates but had I known it was going
to drag on like this it would have ben cheaper to buy
an old banger that I could have resold when no longer
needed.

I am very sorry to hear about your misfortune.
I have now been waiting since February to get a list of rather common spare parts from TMS for the Griff. I suppose it is a bit difficult with parts now.
But I think if you put yourself in and shop around to all TVR suppliers you might be much more successful.
The calls may cost you a lot of time, but I am sure will get you your car weeks (probably months) earlier.
I hope some people on PH will bring you further than I do.

But I think if you put yourself in and shop around to all TVR suppliers you might be much more successful.
The calls may cost you a lot of time, but I am sure will get you your car weeks (probably months) earlier.
I hope some people on PH will bring you further than I do.
