engine vibration ?

between 2000 and 2200rpm in any gear during acceleration only, there ia a mild vibration that effects the whole car.
i cannot tell if its the engine/drive shaft/diff/gearbox..
where do i start on a 1997 4.2?

not very technical fault finding but does it do it when stationary? i.e. if you rev it to 2k in neutral does it still vibrate? If it does then thats ruled out most of your drivetrain.

A 'buzzy', but load and annoying, vibration is usually caused by the exhaust manifolds coming into contact with the chassis.

I've got a annoying vibration, think it comes from a little heat shield next to the starter motor.

2100rpm is a resonant frequency for my cerb's exhaust (SP system but oem did the same). Particularly noticeable with passengers in the back for some reason, and worse under load. If I find myself going up a slight incline in 3rd for example it's very boomy and I have to change down. I put it down to resonance. Perhaps you have something loose which is excited at that frequency.
