Whilst you have the top off why not check the LEDs are okay in the wheel?
thanks for that. yet another pre-le mans job to add to the ever increasing list
what do you mean by checking the leds are ok by the wheel? everything seems ok when looking at the dash at night but is there a common problem on that front?
Not that I'm aware, I've only ever seen one Chim that had a bulb gone in the ally heater wheel. It's just that to replace that is a dash off job too, so I thought just check they're okay whilst you have it in bits.
Then again if everything's okay, leave well alone. You know that a little bulb will blow on the way to Le Mans then

i see. yep, you are right though - as soon as the dash is put back on a bulb will go!

LEDS's eh? While the dash top is off I could fit lots of small ones around the dash top air vents
oih! I'll have you know my chim is probably the most original low mileage old model available.
even slowly coming around to the fact i should just get the wheels reconditioned in silver rather than anthracite or black.
not the hardest of jobs, but cramp inducing and fiddly. you can do this without romoving the dash top completely, but you do have to undo the 3 bolts that hold it down. found this out cos i was on my own
use an old water bottle to prop the dash up when you need to.
run some oil down the existing cable, and the new one, once you have the bottom of it fitted.
