Nice simple problem which I need some help with please.

Just back from a 940 mile jaunt around europe, and the only issue was the passenger side door 'winder' came off!

Given it sits so snug against the door panel, I can't see how it attaches on as I can't see how you would get a circlip or bolt/grubscrew fixed on.

The glass in the door is also painfully slow to wind up and down, which probably played some part in causing the problem. Is it a lubrication job?

Many thanks

Mike

Not sure how your winder is attached, on my M it is held by a set screw threaded into the winder spindle, so you remove the cover and use a screw driver.

As for sticky windows, replace the seals and it will transform your TVR into a Bentley.
Not only will the windows go up and down easy (so not break the winder handle) It eliminates a lot of rattles and wind noise.

PS I may have made up the bit about the Bentley.

4 different versions here over the period..early have the square drive, pin and sprung cover, then the next square drive and 2ba cheese head set, then TWO versions of hex drive and 2ba cheese head set..They don't break without a reason...IMHO you find that WD40 type oils are a common culprit ....used as a lubricant on the runner seal this destroys/expands the rubber and this then grips the glass, loading the gear and pinion and then the handle. You need to rectify the cause too.
Copied from a reply I made last week on the TVRCC site.

thanks both; I will have to have a closer look at the winder when I get home.

I too have a sticking window on my Taimar. Can anyone provide the part identifier and source for the window seal? I am hoping that it is a generic part that is cut to suit.

I'm sure Adrian@ or sTeVe Ried will have the correct parts you need, there will no doubt be variations over the production of M's.

The cause of my sticking window was a split window channel rubber causing the glass to tilt, wedge and drag on the aluminium frame. After fitting a new channel the winding action is very slick. I obtained the channel rubber from Woolies, stock code SKU 317, here:
