Audi S5's

These seen to suffer quite a high level of depreciation at the moment, 09 cars for around 30 odd grand. Seems a lot of car for your money.

Anyone owned one....

I think the V8 Engine is not that great.. i think it might suffer the same problems like the RS4 engine.

A friend of mine has owned one for about a year now and it's a great car! Looks great, well built, plenty of grunt and 20,000 mile service intervals. What's not to love? Performance wise I would put it on a par with an E46 M3.

Great car, girlfriends dad has one. Well the S5 cab. he's not looking to sell it, good purchase I would suggest.

What problems, i owned an RS4 and it was trouble free...

What problems exactly? I had one of the first cars in the UK and to be honest it is one of the best engines out there. No problems with it at all.

Love mine - a lot of car for the money now I think if you want a V8 grand tourer which is actually pretty good on the mpg for the size of engine

The S5 struggles as its not a performance car like an M3 or an RS4 therefore the bloody juicy V8 goes against it in the used car market. The 3.0tdi depreciates a lot less in percentage terms. Give it another 5 years and it'll probably be down at 10k.

I think 'problems' is a poor choice of words, I assume he's referring to the supposed cokeing issue and the missing horses. But has either of those actually been confirmed?

Either way, I'd struggle to find reasons to get an S5 over an RS4...

I think they're great cars personally. Bought my 57 plate for 25k 3 months ago.

Makes me chuckle when people say they aren't performance cars....perhaps not on a track, but who drives on a track every day.

0-60 in 4.9 seconds suggests they're a very respectable car indeed.

Plus the cabin is a lovely place to be, far superior to their German counterparts.

As for the V8, it's almost bulletproof.

Oh and I believe the S5's shape and styling is gorgeous and probably the only plus point over an RS4.

Depreciation maybe down to the V8s thirst, I've had the dynamic reading as low as 8mpg.

I'd have one, maybe when I'm a bit older, but it could only really be a weekend car I could never use one to commute to work in. Its also not really in the same league as an M3 or C63 as far as performance goes.

I sat in the back of one a couple of weeks ago, it was a bugger to get in and out, and I am no porker. thats all I have to say really as we stuck in traffic for the entire journey.

Each to their own of course, but I find they look rather boxey. Also BMW's interiors are woeful.
