A potential 460Bhp is on the cards for a 4.5 with TVR Power now offering a NOS package.

well, I'm lost again.

Firstly, I thought they were offering engine upgrades for 4.2/4.5 AJP's for 3k (it still says 6k on their site).

Secondly, they're providing a RR chip (I though the RR was a lot more than a chip) and then adding 140bhp of Nitrous. 460-140 = 320hp for a RR chipped 4.5?

The car pictured is mine and if you read the article correctly you will see that TVR Power will do a similar kit to mine which is capable of 140bhp though it will only be running and set up to produce 75% (of 140)
So in actual fact if you take the nos off your left with around 355bhp which most cerbs are running. Mine is around 385bhp before NOS. If anyone doubts this then bring your cerb Red rose along (if you have one) and I'll gladly prove it......you wont be the first one I've beaten!

I fitted my own kit then set it up myself but it was running a little rich so I took my car to TVR power for the chip upgrade and to have the NOS jets enlarged then to have a final set up done for full effect. This was well worth it as the cars as standard now pulls like mad and cleanly too and the NOS is perfect.

Don't get confused I have used mine at 100% on a few occations and it was fine no problems TVR power are playing safe by setting it to 75%. (quite rightly so as most of you have a heavy right foot)

Anyway you'll all have some opinion on whether you like the thought of NOS or not and I'm sure I'll read about it later.

Craig

P.S. The car is also the one shown in this month Sprint under Modificaions.

Hi Craig

Firstly YHM

Secondly, I'd like to apologies to you as I was not aware of your development work
at the time I issued the piece.

I'd like to stress TVR Power did not ask me to put this out, I simply like to keep
on top of the news for the TCR site

TVR Power have acknowledged your ground development work to which they did
the final set up.

Sorry once again for the confusion.

EDITED: As I can't spell with tired eyes!

Hi DJ

The prices you refer to relate only to upgrading a 4.2 to a 4.5 spec engine.

TVR Power have yet to add the Red Rose information to their site.

Hope that clears that up for you?

Not a problem like I said in my email a couple of twats were basically calling me a liar and that TVR power built the system & not me!

Thanks for changing.

That clears it up nicely, thanks. I'm not convinced it's written particularly clearly though. i.e

"THE RESULTS
Car producing a genuine 460Bhp (Kit provides 140Bhp Progressive Power)
Drivability is smooth and progressive."

I know it mentions the controller is setup for 75% power in the previous section, but it's still not the clearest. The kit may well provide 140bhp, but that's not much use when it can only be safely used at 75% of that.

I'm also not sure that I believe a Red Rose Cerbera produces 350-360HP. I could be wrong (after all I'm just a lowly 4.2 owner).

They use the term 'Red Rose Chip'. What does that mean exactly? The Red Rose engine mods are much more than a chip, so presumably it's just a custom ECU that allows you to remap the engine (which is used as a component of the Red Rose mods?).

I should have some more information next week as well as news on something for the 4.2 engine as well.

Good stuff - I'd almost decided on a Joolz induction job and chip but I'll wait on that. Having said that, I really should sell the Cerb and buy a Omega TD (yuk!) rather than throwing more money at it

I can (amongst others) vouch for the work Craig has put into the Cerb, the attention to detail under the bonnet is first class, and a already quick TVR is now even quicker We where going to get a decent demostration last night until Phil(Shnooz) Held us all up

Sorry to ruin the party chaps, but I still think NOS is quite frankly a smear as far as exotics like TVR are concerned, the high-comp factor limits the real mega benefits of NOS as in turbocharged babies, but I wouldnt mind planting one into my GT, Santa Pods here I come....

For those of you who have not seen Craigs handywork - its highly recommended... have a look through the past posts here, everything from new carbon halfway conefilter boxes through to colour coded hoses... He's one of the fella's with the hood open when parked up... I think all thats needed now is a blue neon under each carbon intake muffler, activated when the hood is lifted... mmm, might beat you to it though... hehe

Craig, you're on for the head-2-head, name the place and time, I need to get beaten at least once to push me to upgrade further hehe...

I'll get back to you on it via email.
Cheers.
